Another fishing season coming to an end!

The 2018 fishing season is coming to an end in few days for most of the rivers in Iceland. Our rivers have been performing very well, both in our salmon rivers and our trout beats up in the north.

Salmon rivers

Prime time is for the most parts over in our salmon river and most of them close in about mid september. The season was unique in the southwest region regarding good and stable water conditions since we had many rainy days this summer. It wasn´t until after mid August that low water level was interfering with fishing result, but we believe all in all that this will go down as a very good salmon season in Iceland.

Laxa brown trout beat in Laxardalur and Myvatnssveit

It was amazing season in our brown trout areas in the Big Laxa. The Laxárdalur performed much better that it has in previous years, and average length is increasing every year. This season we have counted that around 60% of the trout were over 60cm in length, with numerous fish above 70cm. We will proudly introduce a new wing to our lodge Raudholar, as the south wing has been torn down and a new 10 room wing with en-suite bathrooms will be open for the 2019 season. The fishing in Myvatnssveit also keeps improving, with an increase in catches for the 2018 season, and numerous fish 65cm+ caught this season.

We are already planning the next summer and we are taking bookings and reservations for our rivers for 2019.
