![]() Fish just been released on a nice August evening We've been busy as always at this time of year but I'd like to use this chance to update you all on how the fishing has been for us. First of all we did 6 days of salmon fishing on the Huseyjarkvisl River. During that time we landed 20 salmon and lost about 15. Of the 20 landed 14 of them were caught using the hitch technique adding to the fun and excitement. All clients were happy and went back to their homes with a new method for catching salmon in their bag of tricks. This was truly great fishing we had but it was the last trip we did that blew everything away, especially the anglers fishing with us. They arrived on Friday August 12. and flew up to Akureyri where I picked them up and we went to the Litla River. We managed to squeeze in two hours of fishing that night before dark but still managed to catch 12 fish that evening. These guys stayed for 4 days in total and ended up catching 108 fish of all species Iceland has to offer, trout, salmon, sea trout and char. Of the 108 landed and logged in the catch books none were smaller than 30 cm and 34 of those were 50 cm and bigger. The two biggest fish were a 66 cm trout and a 66 cm salmon. Also they caught a 65, 64, 63, 62 and 60 cm fish and more than one of each. Truly an amazing trip. These guys are now fishing the Svarta River with Steinar, one of our guides, and this afternoon they had 21 fish from the Svarta. Their aim now is to break the 137 fish tally from last year with one difference this year - now they are only 3 but were 4 last year. For the next five days I will be guiding on the south coast for brown trout, sea trout and salmon and I hope I will be able to report on great fishing there as well. Tight lines, Stjani Ben
