New river

Written by Stjani. Posted in News.

We are proud to announce a new river available to our clients, the Straumfjardara River. The river is located on the West Coast of Iceland, 150 km from Reykjavik. It is fished with a maximum of 4 daily rods and the average catch rates are 441 salmon per year. It is a river perfectly suited for single handed rods and floating lines, much like most of Iceland's West Coast rivers.

Also, like the other West Coast rivers, the Straumfjardara River is predominantly a grilse river but the percentage of salmon has been increasing in recent years, in compliance with the "no kill" rule for all salmon. The odd grilse is allowed to keep for the table.

We have already started booking for the 2018 season and so if you are interested in fishing on the Straumfjardara River please send us your inquiries to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.

New management

Written by Stjani. Posted in News.

This website,, is now managed and operated by Reykjavik Angling Club, Iceland's biggest and oldest fishing clubs. We manage over 20 rivers all over Iceland and offer some of the best fishing available in Iceland. Most of these rivers are exclusive to our members but some we offer to everyone, members and non-members alike.

Stjani Ben who used to run Iceland Angling Travel is now our sales manager and so we've moved all of his clients over to us and hope to be even better in servicing their fishing needs in Iceland.

We are already booking for the 2018 season and bookings look good already. We control the Langa River, Haukadalsa River and the Hitara River among others. We have already published prices and availability for packaged trips to the Langa River in 2018. The Haukadalsa and Hitara Rivers are sold out but in case of cancellation we will publish available dates here.

For brown trout we control the majority of the trout fishing on the Big Laxa River. We run the Hof and Raudholar lodges at Laxa in Myvatnssveit and Laxa in Laxardalur. We also run the Stadartorfa and Mulatorfa beats. For Arctic char we offer the Brunna River as well as the Upper Flokadalsa River. Both crystal clear water, self catering lodges and pristine char fishing in very pretty environment.

For seatrout we have the Varma River and the Eldvatnsbotnar River. We can also provide seatrout fishing in other rivers on request.
