About the river Vatnsa river is 3 kilometers long from source to the glacial waters of Kerlingardalsa. It flows from the beautiful lake Heidarvatn through some amazing landscape and on it's way offers some very exciting and good looking spots to fish.

On average there are about 600 salmon caught each year and about 7-800 trout and char. Flies For the salmon the hitch and smaller flies work very well. Also patterns like Frances, Black & Blue, Collie Dog and other salmon patterns. For the trout, caddis and midge patterns work well and also streamers.
Tackle ![]() Vatnsa is a beautiful river The Vatnsa river is a relatively small river so a single handed rod is recommended. Preferably size 5-8.
The fish The Vatnsa river holds great number of brown trout all year long as well as sea run trout and char. For the past few years there has been a salmon smolt releasing program to enhance the salmon run in the river.
