Ever since the DVD – The Source – Iceland – was published we have had a great deal of interest into fishing for sea run Arctic char. We‘ve researched the rivers of Iceland to find the best quality of river for sea run char and now we‘ve found what we believe to be one of the best, the Brunna River.
The Litla River has proven to be one of the best brown trout rivers in Iceland and is growing in popularity. The Litla River offers both great brown trout fishing and fantastic char fishing for resident char that live in the river and the lake that the river flows from.
The Litla River and Brunna River are a mere 20 kilometers from one another which make them perfect for a two river combo. What is even more exciting is that for 2012 there will be flights from Reykjavik to Husavik making the rivers only 90 minutes from Reykjavik.
In 2012 we are offering packaged trips to these two rivers with roundtrip flights from Reykjavik to Husavik. Sample itinerary: Big brown trout on the Litla River Day 1. Tuesday. – Icelandair flight arriving at around 15:00 local time. Pick up at airport and transport to domestic airport for a flight to Husavik leaving at 19:00. Pick up at Husavik domestic and transport to Litla lodge. Overnight there. Day 2. Wednesday. – Full days guided fishing on Litla River. Full board accommodation in lodge. Day 3. Thursday. - Full days guided fishing on Litla River. Full board accommodation in lodge. Day 4. Friday. – Fishing on Litla until 13:00. Lunch, pack up and leave. Drive 20 mins to Brunna River. Start fishing at 16:00. Full board accommodation in lodge. Day 5. Saturday. – Full days guided fishing on Brunna River. Full board accommodation in lodge. Day 6. Sunday. – Fishing on Brunna until noon. Pack up and leave. Lunch at Husavik and then a flight to Reykjavik from Husavik leaving at 16:15. Pick up at Reykjavik domestic and transport to Viking hotel. Overnight there – Viking dinner included. Day 7. Monday. – Airport shuttle leaving hotel early morning for a morning flight back home.
